File tools: work with photos, PDFs and spreadsheets

Members often ask Hyv to resize iPhone photos, combine or shrink PDFs, read spreadsheets, pull text from receipts or make QR codes. These file tools now come built in, so Hyv can handle common file tasks right away, without stopping to set anything up first.

How it works

When you send a file or ask for a conversion in chat, Hyv picks the right built-in tool for the job. It reaches for a tool only when your request needs one, so everyday conversation stays quick while file work gets much faster.

Here is what you can ask Hyv to do with your files:

• Photos and images: convert iPhone HEIC and WebP photos into standard formats, resize pictures, compress images for smaller file sizes and read or strip camera metadata.
• PDFs: turn a set of photos into a single PDF, merge or split existing PDFs, pull text out of documents and shrink large PDF files so they are easier to share.
• Receipts and scans: read printed text from images and receipts in both English and Hindi, with support for Devanagari script.
• Spreadsheets and data: read and write spreadsheets, search across text files, work with structured data files and run calculations.
• QR codes and archives: generate a new QR code from a link or text, read an existing QR code from a photo and pack or unpack zip and 7zip archives.

Limits

• Careful with files: Hyv handles PDFs and images under strict safety rules, and older conversion tools with known security problems are left out.
• Office formats: converting Word, Excel or PowerPoint documents into other formats is not available yet. Reading and writing spreadsheets works.
• Languages for text recognition: reading text from images currently supports English and Hindi.

Where it is today

The file tools are built and tested across 23 everyday file tasks without a failure. In one test, Hyv combined five photos into a 1.5 MB PDF and then shrank it to 466 KB on request.
