Devcon 8: a guided plan when you join the circle

When you join the Devcon 8 circle, Hyv now opens your private chat and helps you plan your week in Mumbai. Instead of staring at a blank thread after joining, you get a calm, step-by-step conversation to pick sessions, build a day plan, and set up reminders. Session reminders also arrive 15 minutes before a talk starts, rather than 30.

How it works

As soon as you join the Devcon 8 circle through an invite link, a direct invitation, an approved request, or in chat, Hyv sends a welcome message in your personal chat.

• Start your way: You can tap one of the quick options, type a reply, or send a voice note in any language to share what you care about.
• Pick your sessions: Hyv suggests sessions that match your goals and shapes them into a day plan, complete with a link to save the picks to your Devcon My Interests list.
• Stay on time: You can choose to add sessions to Google Calendar, get a reminder in chat 15 minutes before each session starts, or skip reminders altogether. Reminders requested from the group chat also use the 15-minute timing.
• Evening previews: If you opt in, Hyv sends a preview at 21:00 IST from 2 to 5 November. It reviews your next day, flags any sessions that changed on the live schedule, or offers fresh picks if you do not have a plan for that day yet. If you are skipping a day, it stays quiet.
• Meet people and bring friends: Near the end of the walkthrough, you can opt in to introductions with other attendees, or ask for your own circle link to invite friends.

Hyv moves one step at a time and remembers which offers you have already seen, so it never repeats a prompt.

Limits

• One welcome per member: The guided opener runs once when you join the Devcon 8 circle. Leaving and rejoining will not trigger a second walkthrough.
• New joins only: Members who joined the circle before this update do not receive the automatic opener, though they can still ask Hyv for Devcon plans and reminders at any time.
• Nothing happens without your yes: Joining the circle only starts the conversation. Calendar entries, chat reminders, evening previews, and introductions each wait for your explicit confirmation.
• Respects your current chat: If you are already in the middle of a conversation with Hyv when you join the circle, Hyv waits until your current exchange finishes before starting the Devcon walkthrough.
• Usage limits apply: You need an active personal Hyv chat with available usage to receive the welcome flow.

Where it is today

This change has been tested across the circle join paths and schedule checks, with the calendar and introduction steps still awaiting a live check. It is not live yet and is coming soon for members joining the Devcon 8 circle.
