Question cards: keep talking while a card is open

You can now answer a question card in words, send a voice note, or change the subject without waiting for the card to time out.

When Hyv sends a question card with buttons in your chat, it no longer waits for you to tap a button before reading your next message. You can tap an option, reply in your own words, send a voice note, or ask about something else right away. Hyv reads what you send immediately instead of waiting up to five minutes for the card to expire.

Why we changed this

Previously, when Hyv asked a question with buttons, the conversation paused until you tapped one of the options or five minutes passed. If you answered the question with a voice note or a short text message instead of tapping, Hyv did not see your reply until the five-minute wait ended. The same happened if you wanted to change the subject or ask a quick follow-up before deciding. That made normal conversation feel stuck whenever a card was on screen.

How it works

Now, sending a question card does not pause the chat. Once the card appears, the conversation stays open.

  • Tap a button whenever you are ready. When you tap an option on the card, Hyv receives your choice right away and continues from there, even if you have talked about other things in the meantime.
  • Answer in words or by voice. For everyday questions, if you prefer to type your answer or send a voice note instead of tapping a button, Hyv reads and responds to your message straight away.
  • Change the subject freely. You can ask an unrelated question while a card is still open, and still come back to tap the card later.
  • One answer per card. If you tap a button twice by mistake, Hyv only counts the first tap.

Confirmation cards and limits

Some actions in Hyv ask for your explicit confirmation on a card before anything happens.

  • Sensitive actions still require a button tap. Confirmations for publishing, consent and sharing, changing default preferences, image rules, invites, disconnecting an account, or sending a transfer must be confirmed by tapping the button on the card.
  • Typing "yes" does not confirm a protected action. If you reply in words to a confirmation card, Hyv will hear you right away, but it will not carry out the protected action until you tap the confirmation button.
  • Outages on Telegram. If a button tap fails to save during a service interruption, the buttons on Telegram may disappear and you can ask Hyv to send the card again.

Where it is today

This change has been tested across automated checks and live chat turns covering button taps, spoken and typed replies, unrelated messages while a card is open, repeat taps, and confirmation cards. It is coming soon to all members.

Private by default. Consent before people. Restraint before action.
