Shared pages: link previews, signed pages and layouts

Share files from Hyv with clean link previews, optional first-name signing, and structured layouts for reports and briefs.

When Hyv creates a file for you, you can open it as a page and share the link outside your chat. Shared pages show a preview card in chat apps, let you sign a public page with your first name, and read more cleanly on phones. Hyv also has five structured document layouts for common requests.

How it works

When you share a public link to a file Hyv made, chat apps can show a preview card with an image and a summary read from the file. Anyone who taps the preview goes straight to your page. If a link is private, held, or does not exist, the preview shows one identical generic page so nothing about the file is given away. Your name never appears on a preview card.

When you make a page public, you can choose to sign it. Signing uses only the first word of your name. The option starts unticked, and your name only appears if you tick it. Files that are already public stay unsigned unless you choose to sign them. If you make a signed page private again, or if it is placed on hold, your name is cleared from it.

Reading a page on a phone is also simpler. Wide tables have their own horizontal scroll so they do not break the layout of the page. Tapping a link to a section within the same page scrolls smoothly to that spot, and tapping an external link hands it cleanly to the app.

Alongside these sharing improvements, Hyv has five designed layouts for structured documents:

  • Research report
  • News briefing
  • Tech explainer
  • Policy brief
  • Comparison

When you ask for a document, Hyv checks whether one of these five layouts is a clear fit for your request before writing anything. If none of the five is a strong single match, Hyv writes a free-form page instead.

Limits

  • Signing is opt-in and only ever shows the first word of your name.
  • Preview cards never include the owner's name, even on signed public pages.
  • Private, held, and unknown links all show the same generic preview.
  • Phone number and email links inside a page do not open through the link handler yet.
  • Section buttons inside a page that rely on the page's own scripts may not scroll.
  • If your request fits two layouts almost equally well, or does not clearly fit any of the five, Hyv writes a free-form page.

Where it is today

Better phone reading, table scrolling, and opt-in signing are available to all members. The sharing, signing, and stranger view flow was tested through a signed Telegram launch. External links inside pages and live link previews in apps like WhatsApp and Slack wait on a companion app update before they are active everywhere.

The five document layouts are off for now. They were tested on written requests, and a research report and a comparison were produced from Telegram-style requests during testing, while the news briefing and tech explainer layouts have not been run end to end yet.

Questions

Will my name appear when I share a public link?

Not by default. Signing starts unticked, only ever uses the first word of your name on the page itself, and never appears on link preview cards.

What happens if someone pastes a link to one of my private files into a chat?

The chat app receives a generic page that looks identical for private, held, and unknown links. No summary, title, or owner name is shown.

Can I use the five document layouts right now?

Not yet. The five layouts for research reports, news briefings, tech explainers, policy briefs, and comparisons are tested in part, and they remain off for now.

Private by default. Consent before people. Restraint before action.
