Storage: automatic cleanup for chat media

Photos, voice notes and documents you send expire after three days unless you ask Hyv to keep them.

Photos, voice notes, documents and videos you send to Hyv expire after three days. You can ask Hyv to keep any file you want to hold on to, and Hyv saves it in a kept folder so it is not removed. Videos and voice replies that Hyv creates for you expire after seven days.

How it works

When you send a file in WhatsApp or Telegram, Hyv stores a working copy so it can read, view or listen to what you shared. That working copy stays available for three days. After three days, Hyv deletes the file and leaves a short note in its place with the file name, type and size. If the file was a voice note, the written transcript stays in the chat record even after the audio file is gone.

If you know you will need a photo, document or clip later, tell Hyv to keep it. Hyv only moves a file into your permanent kept folder when you ask. It does not copy incoming files out on its own.

The same three-day rule applies to files forwarded between agents, media saved from a browser session, and context copies attached to trusted messages. Videos and audio replies that Hyv generates for you stay available for seven days. Once a generated video or audio file expires, Hyv marks it as unavailable rather than generating or billing for it again.

Quiet topic threads also clean up after themselves. If a separate thread has no messages for 30 days, and nothing is scheduled, due, waiting for delivery or waiting on an open question or approval, Hyv removes that thread's working session. Sending a new message in that thread starts a fresh one. Your main chat and scheduled tasks are not removed by this rule.

When a group is deleted, Hyv removes its session data and mailboxes as well. Temporary frame sequences and raw scratch files left behind by video renders are also cleaned up after 72 hours of sitting untouched.

Limits

  • Incoming photos, voice notes, documents, videos, browser media, agent forwards and trusted-message copies expire after 3 days.
  • Generated videos and audio replies expire after 7 days.
  • Quiet thread sessions with no messages and no open work expire after 30 days.
  • Temporary video render frame sequences and raw scratch files expire after 72 hours without being read or changed.
  • If total incoming file storage across Hyv reaches 20 GB, the oldest files more than an hour old are removed first.
  • Source clips, finished renders, scripts, photos and files you asked Hyv to keep are not removed by the render cleanup.
  • Conversations and shared transcripts still keep their existing records.

Where it is today

Automatic cleanup for incoming files, generated media, idle threads and deleted groups is available to all members. Cleanup for temporary video render scratch files is in a dry-run check first and is not removing files yet. The rules were tested across automated checks and tried against a sample workspace tree.

Questions

### How do I keep a file I sent from expiring? Ask Hyv in chat to keep the file before the three days are up. Hyv copies it into your kept folder, which is never removed by the cleanup.

### What happens to voice notes after three days? The audio file is deleted after three days, along with other incoming files. Hyv keeps the written transcript, file name, type and size so it can still refer to what you said.

### Will Hyv delete my main chat if I am away for a month? No, the 30-day rule only applies to idle separate threads with no open questions, approvals or scheduled work. Your main chat and scheduled tasks are kept.
