The ways to set a reminder in WhatsApp, and how to do it in plain words with Hyv, a personal AI agent in your private WhatsApp or Telegram chat.

Illustration of Hyv reminder chats on WhatsApp and Telegram: you ask in plain words, Hyv confirms the time, and the reminder arrives in the same chat.

You can keep reminders in WhatsApp with its own tools, such as messaging yourself or starring a message, or with an assistant that lives in a chat. With Hyv, you write the reminder in plain words, like "remind me to call the landlord on Friday morning", and Hyv brings it up at that time in the same chat.

What are the ways to set reminders in WhatsApp?

Message yourself. Keep a chat with yourself and write notes there. It is quick, but nothing reminds you at a set time.
Star a message. Starred messages are easy to find again later. They are bookmarks, not alerts.
A reminder on one message. Some versions of WhatsApp let you set a reminder on a single message from its menu. Whether you have it depends on your app version.
Your phone's reminders app. It alerts you on time, but it lives outside your chats.
An assistant in your chat. You say what and when in your own words, and the reminder arrives in the chat you already use.

How do you set a reminder with Hyv?

Open your private chat with Hyv on WhatsApp or Telegram.
Say what to remember and when, in plain words: "remind me to send the invoice tomorrow at 10".
At that time, Hyv brings it up in the same chat. There is no separate app to open and no list to keep.

Hyv confirms the date, time and timezone it saved, so you can correct it straight away. If it doesn't know your timezone, it asks which city to use. A request like "in 30 minutes" needs no timezone.

A WhatsApp chat with Hyv. The message says "Remind me to pay the light bill on the 5th" and Hyv replies "Done. I'll remind you on the 5th at 10 AM." — From the Hyv demo film, a scripted example.

If you connect your Google account, Hyv can also prepare a calendar invite for you to approve. Nothing is created until you say yes. See Google Workspace with Hyv.

What does Hyv not do?

It does not send email or create calendar events without your approval.
It does not hold back reminders you asked for. Its repeat filter for email alerts never applies to reminders or scheduled check-ins.
It does not promise the exact minute. A reminder can arrive a few minutes late.
It does not need a new app. Hyv works in a private chat on WhatsApp or Telegram.

Questions

Can WhatsApp remind me at a specific time?

Some versions offer a reminder on a single message. For anything else, use a reminders app or an assistant in your chat, like Hyv.

Does it work on Telegram too?

Yes. Hyv works in your private chat on WhatsApp or Telegram.

Will a reminder reach me if I haven't messaged Hyv for a while?

On Telegram, yes. On WhatsApp, if you haven't written to Hyv in the last 24 hours, WhatsApp's rules mean Hyv sends a short notice first, and the reminder appears once you reply.

Can Hyv write the message I need to send when the reminder comes up?

Yes. Ask Hyv to draft it and give the number, and it sends you a link that opens that chat with the draft typed in. You press Send. See message drafts.
